Yoga 101: 4 Weeks to Strength, Flexibility and Balance for Beginners
Learn the most common yoga poses, alignment, anatomy, breathing and mindfulness practices. You’ll end this series with a home practice you can do any time you want to relieve tension, reduce stress and feel strong, flexible and balanced. No experience needed. All backgrounds welcome.
Each will include 45 minutes of yoga practice to build your strength, flexibility and balance, as well as 15 minutes of lecture and discussion. All materials (mats, handouts) provided. Each week will include an assignment to complete at home to apply what you’re learning.
Questions covered include:
- What style of yoga is best for beginners?
- How often should a beginner do yoga?
- Is yoga a good workout?
- Can you lose weight or gain muscle in yoga?
- What are the 12 basic yoga postures?
Repetition is the foundation of skill. So each week you will be guided through the same 45 minute yoga practice that covers all the essential poses. You will build strength, flexibility and balance each week learning new nuances of each pose, building a foundation to continue to learn more about your body and mind every time you practice. Each week will have a different focal point and lecture topic that we will weave through the class.
