BodyBusiness Featured Partner: Zen Japanese Fast Food

Q/A with Owner Adam Weisberg

Tell us about your business

Zen is a Japanese fast casual concept. We have been a health focused brand since our inception. Some things that take us in a different direction than most fast casual brands is our focus on great ingredients. We have farm to table vegetables brought in daily. We have also committed to serving only natural, organic & sustainable meats.

It took a long time to find the right partnerships, but it’s been a great addition to our menu. Yes, we are a locally born brand and we love participating/partnering with other local like minded brands. BodyBusiness has been one of our 20 local fitness partners for over 4 years. Our partners had their dieticians, nutritionists and trainers craft a ZEN approved menu for their clients. So many of us don’t know the right fuel pre-run, post workout so our partners crafted menu’s that their clients can view in our restaurants to help them make the right choices.

How long have you been in business?

17 years…still can’t believe it.

How did you get started?

Well it took awhile…I was new to Austin and thought a fast, healthy, affordable concept would fit Austin’s need. Wrote the business plan and 2 1/2 years later (yep it took that long) we opened here on Anderson Lane.

What excites you most about your business?

Easy, the people. It has always been what has attracted me to the business. I love getting to know the people I work with and our guests Seeing families transform over the years is one of the best pieces of my business.

What’s most challenging?

Boy there are many, but here’s one I think many of us can relate to in business. Staying relevant. There are so many great concepts as Austin has become a foody town. This is a challenging business, but no different than most. You must continue to push forward or perish.

What’s one thing you want people to know about you?

I must travel…must.
